Hollow Park on Hollow Road and Orenaug Park on Park Road, are opened to 6
a.m. to one hour after sunset.
Hollow Park has fields for softball, baseball, soccer and football as well
as a river walk along the Pomperaug river.
The swimming area is open from mid-June to the end of August. Swimming lessons are offered to children four-years-old and up. Family swim memberships are available.
Hollow Park has a covered pavilion,
picnic tables, a basketball court, sand volleyball and various playscapes.
Assignment of the use of the Hollow Park's ball fields is through the Park
and Recreation office at (203) 263-3113. Reservations for the use of the Hollow
Park pavilion, concession building and the North Green gazebo are also assigned
through the Park and Recreation office.
Orenaug Park has a trail from Park Road and a trail from behind the town library. Both end at the observation tower.
General Program Information
Throughout the school year the Parks
& Recreation Department strives to offer a variety of cultural, educational,
active and fun programs for residents age infant and up. The department distributes
a Fall/Winter, Winter/Spring and Summer Brochure through the schools and also
in Voices Newspaper. Various other flyers and information can be obtained at the
parks and Recreation office.
The Parks and Recreation department offers a summer recreation program to children in grades kindergarten through eight which run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for six-weeks. The program offers field trips, arts and crafts, games, special events, transportation to Hollow Pond once weekly pizza day and various other special days.
Park and Recreation offers a variety of summer sports camps throughout the summer months including baseball, tennis basketball, soccer and volleyball.
Town owned Tennis Courts
Three tennis courts are at Nonnewaug High School and two are at Woodbury Middle
School. Residents may use the courts, but tennis programs sponsored by Region
15 schools have priority.
NATURE WALKS
Flanders Nature Center
has a Botany Trail, Geology Trail and a Wildlife Habitat and Wilderness Trail
at the Van Vleck Farm Sanctuary off Flanders Road. There are miles of trails,
a pond and a peat bog at the Whittemore Sanctuary off Route 64.
These trails
are open seven days a week from dawn to dusk at no charge.

money order or check made out to the Town of Woodbury. Registration and
payment may be delivered in person

Program Scheduling
There will be no activities on major holidays. In inclement weather, all
recreational activities
will be cancelled for that day or evening.
