What we do

The purpose of the job is to administer the collection of all current and delinquent taxes in accordance with the General Statutes of the State of Connecticut.  It is an elected four year term and must be bonded in accordance with the applicable statutes.

Online Bill Pay FAQ

What are the benefits of paying a bill online?
Paying online with a credit card or electronic check saves time, gives you the flexibility to pay how and when desired, and saves money (no more stamps, paper checks or envelopes), and Invoice Cloud will store your information for future use – but only if you choose to store it.

What is Invoice Cloud?
Invoice Cloud is a web-based, electronic invoice presentment and payment company that we have partnered with to provide faster, more convenient billing services to our customers. By automating billing and collections, customers can click and pay online while helping the environment and reducing clutter in their home or workspace.

What is the relationship between my town and Invoice Cloud?
Your town wanted to make paying bills easier for their customers, but didn’t have the electronic presentment and payment systems required to display, safely process and store financial information. Your biller chose Invoice Cloud because it is easy to use, and the security is the strongest available. All the data collected is double encrypted and stored on secure servers. The data is not sold or released for any purpose other than to complete transactions.

Is there one account number for all of my bills?
No, account numbers vary for the different tax types. Each bill has its own bill/list #.

If I pay different bills (i.e. real estate and motor vehicle) do I need to register more than once?
Yes, one time registration is required for each bill type to access the resident portal. You need to register for each of the bill types and accounts you wish to pay online. If you own two parcels you will need to register both parcels. If you own multiple vehicles, you will need to register each vehicle. Once the initial registration process has been completed for each of your accounts, viewing and paying future invoices will be in place. However, if you register your accounts with the same email and password, you will get a list of accounts to choose from in your customer portal.


Tax Collector News

Tax bills for the 2012 Grand List have been delayed due to the late passing of the town budget, but will be mailed at the end of August. Three copies of Real Estate and Personal Property bills are mailed. The first installment is due September 1, 2013 and payable by October 1, 2013. The second installment is due January 1, 2014 and is payable by February 3, 2014. Bills are not mailed again in January so taxpayers should retain their copies for the January payment. Motor Vehicle bills are due in one installment on September 1, 2013 payable by October 1, 2013 for vehicles registered on October 1, 2012. If you do not receive a bill, please call the tax office immediately. By State Statute failure to receive a bill does not exempt the taxpayer from the tax or any penalties that may accrue.

If you pay by mail, please send the proper payment stub with your check.  If you want a receipt, send the entire bill and a self-addressed envelope along with your payment.

If you pay in person, bring the entire bill to the Tax Collector’s Office in order to receive a receipt.

If bills are not paid within the thirty day grace period, interest is charged at the rate of
1 ½ per cent per month from the original due date of the tax, July 1 and January 1. The minimum interest charge per bill is $2.00.

The Town of Woodbury offers residents an easy and secure way to view, print and pay their tax bills online. We support electronic bill presentment (viewing) and payment because it is more convenient for residents and better for the environment.
Online Bill Payment, in partnership with Invoice Cloud, offers the following benefits:

  • No signup fees or registration required
  • Access, view and pay your bills online, at your convenience
  • You can pay with electronic check or credit/debit card
  • You have the option to pay immediately or schedule a payment
  • You may sign up for automatic payments
  • Get an emailed confirmation of payment or print a receipt

Payments Accepted
Electronic checks using a checking or savings account or the following card types are accepted for payment.

Convenience Fees
Online payments will incur a convenience fee. The Town of Woodbury receives only your bill payment amount. Convenience fees cover various administrative costs associated with accepting payments and are non-refundable.

  • The convenience fee when using a Credit Card is a percentage rate fee of up to 2.95% with a minimum charge of $1.00.
  • The convenience fee when using an Electronic Check is $1.95.

The convenience fee amount is automatically calculated and is shown on the payment page before you submit your payment for processing. Convenience fees will appear as a separate charge from the bill amount on your credit card and bank statements.
