Welcome to the Town of Woodbury Plan of Conservation and Development WebPage. This page has been set up to provide Woodbury residents, businesses, and visitors with current information about the development of the Town’s next Plan.
Connecticut General Statutes mandate an updated Plan of Conservation and Development by municipalities every ten years, and provide a series of guidelines, considerations, and issues that must be addressed in the plans.
The latest Town Plan of Conservation and Development was adopted in 1999, updating the 1988 Plan with a series of recommendations. Subsequently, an implementation plan was prepared and tasks were allocated to Town boards, commissions, agencies, and offices. The recommendations led to revisions of the Zoning Regulations and Subdivision Regulations, preparation of an Open Space Plan, and other actions.
Town planning has taken on new importance with recent legislation that establishes growth management principles for towns, regions, and the State to consider and the creation of potential fiscal penalties for towns that do not maintain current plans that are consistent with regional and State plans. The relevant statutes and regional and State plans can be viewed through links found elsewhere on this page.
The Woodbury Planning Commission has initiated the Plan preparation and a State of Our Town report has been prepared, summarizing data, projections, and resources that describe the Town and provide background for planning. Click here to read or download a PDF copy of that report.
The Planning Commission looks forward to working with Town officials, residents, and business owners to develop objectives and strategies to maintain Woodbury’s status as “the Essence of New England”. We hope you will participate.
