For the convenience of Woodbury residents, Goodwill Industries of Western Connecticut has announced the Grand Opening of an Attended Donation Center at the Woodbury Transfer Station on 22 Beacon Pond Road. A Goodwill attendant will be at the center to accept contributions of saleable clothing and household items during normal transfer station hours - Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The attendant will greet donors, help them unload their donations and give them a tax deduction receipt.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Goodwill and Woodbury Town Officials will take place at 10:00 a.m. on March 3. A grand opening celebration is planned for March 3-4, 2006. As a special promotion, donors on those days will receive a $10 Goodwill Store Gift Certificate.
Goodwill Industries is a nonprofit provider of vocational and support services for individuals with disabilities, welfare dependency and other barriers to employment. Goodwill Stores provide employment opportunities to people by hiring and training them to process donations and to work on the sales floor.
